With a cinematic love of pop culture, seamy undersides, and what makes humans tick, Jenny McAllister's 13th Floor Dance Theater has explored everything from lightning strike addicts to The Hardy Boys, the sinister side of Christmas, fractured fairy tales and The Twilight Zone.
Utilizing a unique company of theatrically talented performers and a wicked sense of humor, McAllister has been creating darkly funny dance theater in San Francisco for over 15 years.

Inspired by James Joyce's novel "Finnegan's Wake", 13th Floor's "A Wake" is a darkly comic look into the lives of the Finnegan family on the eve of the funeral of much-un-loved aunt. Set in the home of the family patriarch, a hoarder of all things past, "A Wake" is at once ghost story, a comedy of errors and a deep exploration into the emotions surrounding a death in the family. Interspersing modern dialog with the the beautiful, hilarious and complex language of the novel, the characters shift from the everyday - a drink, a kiss, an argument - into the magical, where past and present merge, and vines grow all around.
